South Africa’s “Mother City” came late to the artisan coffee game, but it caught up quickly and has rapidly become destination-worthy. It makes sense, given the city’s propensity for good food, fine wine, and its location on one of the most important continents for high-quality Arabica beans (Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania.) Several roasters helped Cape Town rise to fame, notably Rosetta Roastery, Truth, Origin, and Tribe, all of which have beautifully designed (steampunk!) and varied cafés around the city.
