Once you see a married woman with HIV, chances are she got it from her husband – Nigerian doctor says.

A Nigerian doctor, Abdulsalam Nuhu, has suggested that the leading cause of HIV infection in married women is s3xual transmission from their husbands.

“Once you see a married woman with HIV, chances are she got it from her husband,” he wrote in a post on his X handle on Tuesday, June 16, 2026. 

“Utterly unfair. The husband sure didn’t get it from sharing sharps.

“To her, she’s struck by a two edged sword; betrayal and a lifetime of affliction. Both sides striking at the same time. The pain!.”
