The question surrounding Savinho is whether a move to Tottenham Hotspur would unlock the potential that made him one of Europe’s most exciting young wingers at Girona FC.
On paper, his Premier League numbers are underwhelming: just 2 goals in 53 league appearances for Manchester City. Last season he managed only one league goal and two assists while playing just 18% of City’s Premier League minutes.
However, the statistics do not tell the whole story:
- At Manchester City, Savinho has often been a rotation player in a squad packed with attacking talent.
- Before arriving in England, he enjoyed a breakthrough season at Girona, scoring 9 goals and helping the club qualify for the Champions League.
- At 22, he still has time to develop and has already earned senior caps for Brazil national football team.
A move to Tottenham could benefit him because he would likely receive more regular starts and greater attacking responsibility. Transfermarkt reports that negotiations are progressing and that the player is keen on the move.
The biggest concern is his end product. For a winger in a high-scoring Manchester City side, two league goals in 53 matches is a poor return. Tottenham would need him to contribute far more goals and assists than he has managed at City.
Verdict: The talent is clearly there, but Savinho’s reputation will only be revived if he becomes a consistent starter and significantly improves his goal contributions. Tottenham may offer the ideal environment for that, but he remains more of a high-upside project than a guaranteed success.
