Sony has unveiled an upgraded version of its wearable “air conditioner” called the REON Pocket Pro Plus — and it’s apparently noticeably cooler than previous models.
The device sits against the back of your neck under your clothes and uses thermoelectric cooling plates instead of blowing regular air like a fan. Sony says the new model delivers up to 20% stronger cooling and can get about 2°C colder in Smart Cool mode compared to the earlier version.
Other upgrades include:
A redesigned neckband that reportedly holds the device more securely. Adjustable exhaust vents to better push hot air away from your body. Improved cooling algorithms for smarter temperature control. A smaller “Pocket Tag 2” sensor that measures surrounding temperature and humidity automatically.
Sony says the REON Pocket Pro can cool or warm the body depending on the season, and battery life can reach up to 15 hours in Smart Cool mode.
The gadget is currently launching in parts of Europe and Asia for around £199/€229, though Sony still hasn’t officially released the REON series widely in the U.S. yet.
