The Rivers State Police Command has reinforced a nationwide-style directive banning the use of covered vehicle number plates and unregistered vehicles on public roads.
According to the directive, motorists in Rivers State are no longer allowed to:
Cover or conceal their number plates Drive vehicles without proper registration Use fake or defaced plate numbers
The order is aimed at improving security and making it easier to identify vehicles used for crimes. Security agencies have also been instructed to impound violating vehicles and enforce compliance strictly across the state.
Authorities say criminals often use unregistered or hidden plates to avoid detection, so the move is part of broader efforts to reduce crime and strengthen policing.
