A disturbing video has sparked concern over the deepening drug crisis in San Francisco, after footage showed addicts appearing in a “zombie-like” state on the city’s streets.

According to a report by the New York Post, the clip captures several individuals standing motionless, bent over, or swaying aimlessly in broad daylight, a behaviour commonly linked to heavy use of powerful opioids like fentanyl.

The shocking scenes were reportedly filmed in parts of downtown, including areas such as the Tenderloin district, which has become a focal point of the city’s ongoing drug and homelessness crisis.

Experts say such posture, sometimes referred to as the “fentanyl fold,” is a visible effect of opioid intoxication, where users lose muscle control and remain semi-conscious. The phenomenon has become increasingly common as synthetic drugs continue to flood U.S. cities
