Hie Smith. Please hide my name. My husband and I are pregnant and expecting our first child. The entire family is excited and they are very supportive. My problem is they want to name my child after my husband’s grandfather. His names were Gilbert Matome Jacob. As much as I appreciate their love and support, I feel like those names are so outdated and heavy. I don’t want my child to be bullied by his peers. When was the last time you met a young Gilbert? Those names are just too heavy. My husband is scared of his parents and doesn’t want to tell them that we are not comfortable with those dinosaur-era names. What would be the best way for me to humbly reject these names?
