JD Vance Slams ‘Disgraceful’ Suggestion His Wife Should Be Saved From Him

“Of course the second lady can speak for herself,” Vance told reporters.

Vice President JD Vance has denounced former White House press secretary Jen Psaki’s offhand remarks suggesting that second lady Usha Vance needed to be “saved” from her husband.

“I think it’s disgraceful, but of course the second lady can speak for herself,” Vance told reporters in Israel on Thursday. “And I’m very lucky to have a wonderful wife.”

The VP said he “hopes” that his wife, whom he tied the knot with in 2014, feels the “same way about me.”

“But we’re very lucky to have this journey … or I should say I’m very lucky to go on this journey with a very loving wife,” Vance added. “We’re going to keep on serving the country together, and I’m honored to have Usha by my side on this trip, in particular, but always.”

Vance’s comments came after Psaki made the remarks about his wife during an appearance on the “I’ve Had It” podcast.

Calling Vance Trump’s right-hand man, a “little Manchurian candidate” that “wants to be president more than anything else,” she then said she “always wonder[s] what’s going on in the mind of his wife.”

“Like, are you OK? Please blink four times. We’ll come over here. We’ll save you,” Psaki said during the Oct. 21 episode.

Vice President JD Vance and former White House press secretary Jen Psaki have clashed in the past. Psaki previously said voters and “the American public can sniff inauthenticity” in then-Republican vice presidential nominee Vance while appearing on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” in August 2024.

The ex Biden official also implied that the vice president is “scarier” than President Donald Trump.

“And that he’s willing to do anything to get there. And your whole iteration you just outlined, I mean, he’s scarier in certain ways in some ways. And he’s young and ambitious and agile in the sense that he’s a chameleon who makes himself whatever he thinks the audience wants to hear from him,” Psaki added.

Vance, who shares three children with the second lady, wasn’t the only political figure to slam the MSNBC host’s statement.

Steven Cheung, the current White House director of communications, accused Psaki of “transferring her own personal issues onto others” in an X post.

“[Psaki] is a dumbass who has no comprehension of the truth and has to overcompensate for her lack of talent by saying untrue things,” he wrote.
