A Miami nurse is facing manslaughter charges after deputies say she removed her hospitalized mother’s breathing tube.
Juansette Sabrina Green, 54, a licensed nurse practitioner with more than 20 years of experience, was arrested last week and faces a manslaughter charge after she allegedly removed her mother’s breathing tube because she said she wanted her mother to d!e peacefully.
Green’s mother was hospitalized on May 5 due to shortness of breath, local outlets reported. Green then called her son and daughter to see their grandmother.
When the children arrived at the hospital, Green allegedly said, “I’m pulling out” and removed the intubation tube, according to her arrest report, the Herald reported.
An alarm was activated and medical staff tried to intervene, but she d!ed.
When medical staff were in the middle of assisting Green’s mother, she allegedly told them to stop because she wanted her mother to “go in peace”.
That same evening, deputies went to Green’s home to speak with her, the report said. Green then agreed to talk but said she wouldn’t do it at her home so deputies took her to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office headquarters where they read her rights.
Green appeared in court over the weekend, where a judge ordered her to be held without bond at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
