A suit seeking to stop Shell transferring its mining licence to the Nigerian consortium Renaissance has been filed at the Federal High Court in Lagos.
The Incorporated Trustees of HEDA Resource Centre (HEDA) has filed a lawsuit in the Federal High Court in Lagos (suit number FHC/L/CS/651/2025) alleging that the sale of onshore assets by Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) to Renaissance Africa Energy Holdings violates several Nigerian laws, including the Petroleum Industry Act of 2021.
