Dem Rep. To Intel Leaders: ‘A Lie To The Country’ To Say Signal Chat Wasn’t Classified
Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-Texas) confronted Trump’s top national security officials to their faces, telling them they know they’re lying when they say they didn’t share classified information on Signal when they used the messaging app to discuss war plans – and mistakenly let a journalist into their chat.

“The idea that this information, if it was presented to our committee would not be classified, y’all know is a lie,” Castro told the panel of witnesses during a hearing of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. “That’s ridiculous.”

He directed his comments specifically to Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, CIA director John Ratcliffe and FBI director Kash Patel. He reminded them all that they’ve known each other personally for years, between serving in Congress together with Gabbard and Ratcliffe, and working with Patel when he was a staffer on this committee.

“I’ve seen things much less sensitive be presented to us with high classification,” he told them. “To say that it isn’t is a lie to the country.”

None of them replied.
