In 2002, 50 Cent was still a relatively unknown artist in the hip-hop world. He had already released several underground mixtapes and had a small but dedicated following, but he hadn’t yet broken into the mainstream.
One of his mixtapes, “Guess Who’s Back?”, caught the ear of Eminem. The two connected, and after hearing the mixtape, Eminem was impressed by 50 Cent’s raw talent and street credibility. He invited 50 Cent to meet him in Detroit, and shortly afterward, 50 Cent signed a record deal with Shady Records, Eminem’s label. This was the beginning of 50 Cent’s rise to stardom. Eminem was instrumental in 50 Cent’s breakthrough into the mainstream, and their collaboration on 50 Cent’s debut album “Get Rich or Die Tryin’” in 2003 was a massive success. The album, which included hits like “In Da Club” and “21 Questions,” made 50 Cent a household name and set the stage for his long and successful career.
Eminem’s support and mentorship played a crucial role in launching 50 Cent’s career, and the two have maintained a close working relationship ever since.
